Steve's 3M Open Bet - Mac Meissner the sole selection

Steve Rawlings: The 27-year-old American Mac Meissner comes into this week's 3M Open in fair form.

After finishing 10^th alongside Matt McCarthy in the Zurich Classic pairs event at the end of April, he's secured three more top 10 finishes on the PGA Tour - a ninth in the Myrtle Beach Classic, third in the Charles Schwab Challenge and a sixth at the John Deere Classic three weeks ago.

Meissner travelled to the UK to finish a respectable 30^th in the Scottish Open and he looks primed to go well again here after a week off.

This is his third appearance here following a 59^th in 2024 and a never in-contention tied 14^th 12 months ago and I thought he was fairly priced at 60.059/1.

Dave Tindall's Each-Way Pick - Back William Mouw each-way @ 50/151.00

Dave Tindall: I landed the winner here last year as 33/134.00 tip Kurt Kitayama did the business.

Looking back at the 2025 preview, I wrote: "If looking for a player to tick the boxes of course form, current form and strong recent driving and iron play, Kurt Kitayama's name flashes brightly."

One other point regarding Kitayama was that he came into the event ranked 110th in the FedEX Cup standings so needed a late surge to make the playoffs.

William Mouw is perhaps the player with the most similar credentials to Kitayama in 2025.

Mouw is 102nd in the FedEx Cup table but he's starting to find some acceleration as the finishing line approaches.

The 25-year-old was 20th at the Canadian Open, 26th at the John Deere Classic and 10th at the ISCO Championship last time.

In his last two events, Mouw ranked 10th for Approach at the John Deere and 3rd in the ISCO Championship so he has the required sharp irons.

The clincher is a seventh place on his 3M Open debut last year via three rounds of 66 and a closing 67.

Mouw was defending at the ISCO having won that tournament last year with a closing 61 - the sort of ultra-low number that this course yields.

Hopefully he can win in July for the second year running.

In-form outsider to follow at huge odds - Steven Fisk @ 170.0169/1

Steve Rawlings: Brian Harman, Max Greyserman, Aldrich Potgieter, David Lipsky and Chis Kirk were all carefully considered but I'm going to keep things incredibly simple, and my only other selection is the man that beat Pendrith in extra time, Steven Fisk, who's drifted out to a remarkable price of 170.0169/1.

Fisk, who's generally trading at 66/167.00 and 80/181.00 on the High Street, finished down the field in 74^th on debut last year so that's a bit of a negative but his victory two weeks ago didn't come out of the blue.

The 29-year-old had finished 10^th in the Charles Schwab Challenge at the end of May and the fact that he's seeking his third PGA Tour title in the space of 10 months, having also won the Sanderson Farms Championship in October last year, make the odds seem even bigger.

Fisk missed the cut in the Bank of Utah Championship in his first start after last year's victory but that was understandable given it was his first victory on the PGA Tour, and he should be better equipped to perform better after his latest win.

The week off to refresh should have done him good and although back-to-back winners are rare, Fisk is simply too big.

Scottie Scheffler

While he hasn't got over the line ahead of the filed for a while, Scheffler continues to finish high up the field. His fourth at The Open made it three top fives in his last four appearances. Scheffler is favourite again but rightly so.

Lucas Glover

Glover was getting hot before The Open with successive top five finishes at the John Deere and ISCO Championships. Can he keep it going? Those good results broke a very ordinary run. it'll be interesting to see how he fares at the 3M.

Jordan Smith

The form may be more modest - T21 and T18 at the Scottish Open and The Open - but Smith has shown he can perform outside his homeland with numerous high finishes in the US this year, the best being a third at the Valspar.

First Round Leader: Emiliano Grillo @ 55/156.00

Emiliano Grillo is another player with a recent first-round lead.

That came in last month's Canadian Open where he set out with a 64, the second time he'd carded that number in three starts (also Charles Schwab where he was fourth after round one).

Grillo is an absolute course horse here at TPC Twin Cities. He has a second, a third, a 10th and just one finish outside the top 25 in six appearances.

Looking at FRL positions he has a third, a sixth and an 11th.

As long as the Argentine stays away from any Spanish players (joke fails; none are playing), he has the chance to make a mark from his 08:02 tee-time (1st).
