India have a 1-0 lead and are basking in Virat Kohli's transformation into a T20-style ODI hitter. Kohli, forever the king of this format, hit nine sixes and busted 150 on strike rate in his brilliant ton and the superlatives are running out.

With Rohit Sharma blazing away at the top to get the powerplay off to a good start, India never looked like struggling in a chase of 295. They remain nerveless batting second and there was not even the hint of jangles.

With the ball, Jasprit Bumrah is on Asia Cup duty so the new was shared by Nitish Kumar Reddy, Prasidh Krishna and Gurnoor Brar. It could be argued they are light on bowling with Naman Dhir, on debut, used as the sixth bowler, but Kuldeep Yadav's four wickets in a rightful return to the side was a booster.

Probable XI: Rohit, Gill, Kohli, Gaikwad, Rahul, Jadeja, Reddy, Dhir, Kuldeep, Brar, Prasidh

West Indies didn't get enough runs in game one but they would have reckoned they were competitive at least. They could argue about 30 or 40 runs here or there but the reality is that India got to 300 by the 42^nd over so that wouldn't have been enough even if doubled.

On flat wickets, Windies just have to try to be more aggressive. It was a boost for them in that regard that Justin Graves slotted in as opener and immediately peeled off a 108-ball 101. Had there been more support from Keacy Carty, Shai Hope and Jewel Andrew then things could have been tighter. But if you're relying on Andrew at this stage then there are issues. Windies could regret leaving Shimron Hetmyer to rest.

There is at least batting depth with Gudakesh Motie and Alzarri Joseph at numbers nine and 10 respectively. There was no room for leggie Vitel Lawes. That could change if Greaves is fit enough to bowl.

There have been only two ODI at Barsapara. West Indies' 322 was trumped in the chase by India in 2018 while in 2023 India batted first against Sri Lanka and amassed 373. Sri Lanka replied with 303.

Runs on the menu again, then? It would seem so as, with such a short study sample, it is worth checking on the nature of the wicket in T20i. The run rate is 0.02 off 10 an over and from four matches, both teams to score 220 has copped twice.

Betting focus should be on the wicket. With Windies starting well, the 11/82.38 that a first-innings century is scored is not the worst idea. Betfair Sportsbook also offer first-innings runs at over 300.5 at 5/61.84. If India bat first that line would be 30 to 40 higher so the question is whether the visitors can dig in. The signs from game one are that they can and the nature of the surface will certainly help.

 West Indies' best chance of a win in this series may be to chase. The hosts are so good under scoreboard pressure that, as stated above, it may not matter what West Indies were to post.

They have to hope for a below-par India effort batting first and then be able to put a pace attack, which is not their first-choice, under pressure. But it is also absolutely on the cards that West Indies could concede in advance of that India par line and be blown away.

From a trading perspective, West Indies would be best suited batting first. But the market is wise. Posting 280s, 290s and 300s may not make a big enough dent.

If there ever was game for eschewing top-bat prices, and backing your man for milestones only, this is it. Often we advise on flat wickets to take others out of the equation and bet just one thing to happen. Game one was a good example.

Thoughts and prayers for those with Shubman Gill top-bat vouchers. His 110 was a loser. Rohit, Gill and Kohli should all be in the mix for runs again and ditching the trio for tons could be the best play.

They are 4/15.00, 3/14.00 and 11/43.75 respectively. For West Indies Hope and Keacy Carty are the most likely to bed in. Hope is 15/82.88 for a 50 with Carty at 11/43.75.

It was a surprise Ravi Jadeja went wicketless against a team which has struggled against his style of spin in the last two years. He is underrated on win rate at 9/25.50 and may deserve some faith. Splitting stakes with Kuldeep, though, at 3/14.00 is fine.
