Antigua & Barbuda Falcons v Guyana Amazaon Warriors CPL Tips
Antigua and Barbuda Falcons are top of the table after stunning Trinbago. The latter piece of information may be the more instructive piece.
Falcons have played five matches and the table is heavily skewed by a number of teams barely playing. Guyana and Barbados, for example, have played only twice. It means that Falcons are probably in a false position. The win over holders Trinbago, though, suggests they are a force.
Three more wins from their final five should be enough to ensure a play-off spot. There are now only five teams with realistic hopes with Jamaica and Patriots falling away.
This is Falcons' - our tip for glory pre-tournament - biggest test, though. Guyana are probably the best team in it and would expect them to go on a surge to take the lead. They still have five matches to play at their home fortress, Providence.
But this one comes from North Sound where Falcons have won back-to-back. On their own home territory they have adapted well to the surface and that local knowledge deserves respect. They should be shorter on the Betfair Exchange than 2.245/4.
They outclassed St Lucia Kings and have been bolstered by the arrival of Rahmanullah Gurbaz. Gurbaz may not get into the XI immediately with Glenn Phillips opening, Mohammad Nabi and Dwaine Pretorius contributing while Imrah Tahir is a lock as skipper.
Guyana are not only the side with the most nous but they may also be the most balanced. They have six genuine bowling options and would argue they bat all the way down to No 9.
To upset them, it might not be the worst idea if Falcons got more use from their better resources. Kusal Perera is too low at No 5. Likewise Shadab Khan at No 7.
There could also be consideration to find room for an extra spinner. Sufiyan Muqeem or Usama Mir could well make all the difference as pitches tire. Falcons could afford to drop Hassan Nawaz to free an overseas slot. It would also rectify that batting order.
