After what always seems to be an excruciatingly long wait for the new FIFA instalment, EA rewarded fans' patience with their latest offering - FIFA 16. It has been a few weeks now since the game's release and players have had a chance to test out all the current superstars and check out the elite.
There are some serious contenders for the best players to acquire in your managerial career and, aside from the big names like Lionel Messi and Cristiano Ronaldo, there are plenty of up and coming stars who will be worth their weight in gold as your career progresses.
Compiled here is a definitive list of the best young players to try and sign up early on in the game. All the players listed here are aged 25 or under, which gives them a lot of potential for growth as your campaign develops.
The potential stats listed here are the ones released by EA but, as always, gamers are able to push their players past their maximum potential if they play with them and train them enough. Research has gone into the player stats and how much they are worth at the start of the game. Obviously, as the seasons go by in your career and the players develop more, they will go up in price.
This article should also give you some insight as to which teams are the best to choose when you start the game, as some of the teams are already home to the players on this list. Different teams start off with varying transfer budgets as well.
Also, because a couple of the players listed have recently moved to new clubs in the latest transfer window, or are out on loan, it will be nigh on impossible to pick them up in the first transfer window of the game.
Mateo Musacchio is one of only two defenders on this list, because, let's face it, the prolific attackers are just more fun to play with. But gamers do need to remember that a solid defence is just as important as having a strong attack. The 24-year-old Villarreal centre-back starts the game on 81 overall with a potential to rise to 87. Not only is he a rock at the back but he also has 80 for heading accuracy so he's also going to pick up some goals at the other end from set-pieces. You can sign him for £24million at the start of the game which is a bargain for such a skilled defender with a lot of scope for growth.
OK, so you're going to need another defender. Aymeric Laporte, 21, is a good one to go for as he starts off the game with overall stats of 83. That's pretty impressive for someone of his age. Rumour has it that in the real world the Athletic Bilbao star has attracted interest from the likes of Chelsea and if you want to jump on the bandwagon in the virtual world you can snatch him up for around £35million. He has the potential to rise to 87 overall and would make a great pairing with Musacchio at the back to keep the opposition attacks at bay.
Another up and coming star on FIFA 16 is Manchester United's new Dutch winger Memphis Depay. Although he has yet to make a big impact in United's team in the real world, in the virtual world EA have tipped him for big things (see above). At the age of 21 his starting stats of 81 with a potential to rise to 89 would make him a valuable asset in your managerial career. But as he just moved to United in the last transfer window, if you want to play with him from the start you will have to start your career as Manchester United. If you try to enquire about him as another team you will receive a polite email from Louis van Gaal saying that the player is not for sale as he has recently moved to the club. He is valued at around £17million but if you want to pick him up in the January transfer window of your first season you will probably be looking at paying around double that price for him.
Juventus midfielder Roberto Pereyra starts the game with 81 overall and may not even make some gamers' first teams at the start. This player is a serious all-rounder, though, who can rise to 87 overall and can be bought for around £31million at the start of the game. This is the kind of player who can really control the game from the midfield and can defend as well as he can attack. He has 91 stamina and that shows what a work horse he is.
Raheem Sterling has massively improved stats and growth potential on FIFA 16. On FIFA 15 his overall starting stats were a decent 80 but on the new game he starts at 82 with the potential to rise to 88. This is a player who will add some serious pace to your attack as he has 94 acceleration and 92 sprint speed to make him one of the fastest players in the game ahead of Ronaldo. His dribbling stats are also up there with the best but his finishing stats of 73 mean he isn't so much of a potent goal threat as some of the top strikers. As stated before, if you want to play with him from the start of the game you will have to start playing as Manchester City. After a few seasons he will be one of the big stars in the team, or, if he doesn't suit the way you play, you will be able to sell him for a lot of money.
EA have decided that Tielemans (see above) is the most exciting young footballing prospect in the world at the moment. At only 18 years old, the Belgian midfielder starts the game on 76 with a potential to rise to 90. If you enquire about his price at the start of the game you will be told that RSC Anderlecht have set a £14million price tag for the player, but if you go in at £12million you will be able to sign him.
Halilovic is a technically gifted playmaker who was also a great asset on FIFA 15. On FIFA 16, at 19 years old, he starts the game on 73 with a potential to rise to 87. At the moment he is at Sporting Gijon on loan from FC Barcelona so he is not available from the start of the game. But you should be able to pick him up a year later for somewhere between £10million and £15million. Keep him for a few seasons, though, and he will treble in price or be a key component of your team.
Guedes is a left midfielder who plays for SC Benfica and is listed as an exciting prospect. He is a great one to pick up if you are playing with a team with a low budget. If you enquire about his price you will be told that he is valued at £3.1million but you can swoop in at £2.5million and they will accept. He starts the game with overall stats of 70 but with the potential to rise to 88 he is an absolute bargain.
The young Nigerian striker, who has already come on as a substitute and scored a goal this season for Manchester City, is an absolute steal in FIFA 16. Iheanacho's stats start at 67 but can potentially rise to 85. He is valued at £1million with 12 months remaining on his contract, so you can sign him for around this price at the start or try and pick him up on a free when his contract runs out. Send him out on loan for a few seasons and he will come back as a star striker or you will be able to sell him for millions.
Another one from the Premier League here to finish off the list. Roy Hodgson, Mauricio Pochettino and the FIFA developers believe that Alli is a serious up and coming talent in English football and could be a future star for club and country. If you enquire about him at the start, Pochettino will tell you that he recently joined the club and they are not interested in discussing his availability at this time. Ignore that message and go in at £1.5million and you will be able to sign the 19-year-old talent that has the potential to rise from 67 to 83 overall.
So there you have it, these are the players that you need to sign early on in your manager career. If you do, you will have some superstars in a few seasons who will either win you trophies or make you rich!
