2024 Premier League Darts Night 6 Brighton Tips: Cool Hand to keep producing

Luke Humphries - Darts
Luke Humphries is on the cusp of claiming a nightly win

Of the five matches Luke Humphries has lost so far in this year's Premier League, he has had the higher average in four of them, he also has the highest running average of all eight players and Abigail Davies thinks it's only a matter of time before he picks up a nightly win...

  • Luke Humphries is 4/15.00 to claim victory in Brighton

  • I'm backing Cool Hand to advance to the semi-finals in style

  • Aspinall and Littler to produce a thriller

Luke Humphries is currently sat sixth in the Premier League table having amassed seven points but his form suggests that there is still plenty more to come from the world number one and I would certainly still back him to reach finals night.

Humphries has still been performing

Looking over his numbers a week or two ago, it was clear that Humphries would start winning games and going deep in tournaments again sooner rather than later and after losing to Nathan Aspinall with an average in excess of 103 in Exeter last Thursday, the World Champion enjoyed an impressive run to the final of the UK Open, only failing to average a ton in two matches en route.

He'll have been incredibly infuriated to have missed match darts against Dimitri Van den Bergh to claim the title but consistently delivering strong performances throughout the event shows that he is still, of course, a force to be reckoned with.

In addition to the performances he's producing on the oche, Cool Hand continues to be such a tremendous ambassador for this sport.

The way he kept his composure and showed such a great deal of maturity and resilience to force a decider from 8-4 and 10-8 down, along with the way he conducts himself and embraces everything that comes with being world number one really is commendable and akin to what we've seen from the likes of Michael van Gerwen over the years.

In all but one of his defeats in the Premier League this year, he has had a higher average than his opponent and also boasts the highest overall average in the sport's flagship roadshow event.

Given the level he's playing at and his sublime temperament to keep himself competitive even when things are going against him, I think it's only a matter of time before he climbs up the league table.

Humphries has won four of his last six meetings with Gerwyn Price and I'm backing the World Champion to get the better of The Iceman and throw 4+ 180s at 3/14.00.

What a difference a win makes

Nathan Aspinall arrived in Newcastle for week four of the Premier League knowing that he needed to start accumulating points, quickly. He was still calm, knew he had time on his side but was also fully aware that the pressure would continue to mount until he got that elusive first win.

The improvement in his performance level once he had secured his first two points was vast. Having said before a dart had been thrown in this year's tournament that he was eager to revert back to the Aspinall of old and opt for a carefree approach again, he played with a huge degree of freedom to reach his first final of the year and I think we'll continue to see high quality from him in East Sussex.

The Asp backed that run up with a win in Exeter, something he only managed to do once during the entirety of the 2023 campaign.

The reigning Matchplay champion takes on Luke Littler in Brighton, in what will be their second meeting. The Nuke produced perfection when they went head-to-head in Bahrain and came out on top with an average of 104.5.

I expect the two to deliver a high quality contest on Thursday and am backing 6+ 180s and 2+ 100+ checkouts in this one at 11/43.75.
