Risk free initiative means Marathon runners can back themselves and win for their charity if they hit their target time. And if they don't we will donate £20 per runner to Cancer Research UK.
"If the target time is reached, the runner will need to send a screenshot of their official time to Betfair, and we will donate the winnings plus their £20 stake to each runner's fundraising page. If the target time is missed, the £20 free stake will be donated to Cancer Research UK, the London Marathon official charity. Everyone wins."
Betfair is all about celebrating sporting excellence, and the London Marathon is exactly that - 40,000 entrants put in months of training to make it around an exhausting 26 mile route, all in the name of charity and personal achievement.
To recognise this, we've set up a website, www.back-yourself.com, that will be live for the week leading up to the race itself on which runners competing in this year's London Marathon get a free £20 bet on whether they'll reach their target time.
The site asks runners to enter a number of details about their running history, training efforts, and target time and then calculates the odds of you hitting your target. Runners can then place their £20 free bet.
If the target time is reached, the runner will need to send a screenshot of their official time to Betfair, and we will donate the winnings plus their £20 stake to each runner's fundraising page. If the target time is missed, the £20 free stake will be donated to Cancer Research UK, the London Marathon official charity. Everyone wins.
