Poker players seem to like dating fellow poker players. We have Phil Laak and Jennifer Tilley, Chad Brown and Vanessa Rousso and the newest couple seems to be Erick "E-Dog" Lindgren and the former squeeze of David Benyamine, Miss Erica Schoenberg.
Lindgren was seen railing Schoenberg whilst she was deep in the LAPC Main Event and was also the first to console her when she was eliminated and the pair were even seen kissing by members of the poker community. Schoenberg was engaged to French high-stakes player David Benyamine but if reports are true, the pair split in October last year and have failed in their attempts to reconcile the relationship.
Until 2008, Lindgren had the unfortunate tag of being the best player never to have won a World Series of Poker bracelet but when he defeated Justin "ZeeJustin" Bonomo heads-up in the $5,000 Mixed Hold'em event, he shook off that unfortunate tag and claimed the $374,505 and the coveted piece of poker jewellery. In the same year Lindgren was named player of the WSOP after cashing five times for $1,348,528.
Schoenberg is probably best known for being one of the most attractive female players on the circuit but the former model can play poker too believe it or not. In her first major tournament, the $25,000 WPT Championships, she came 16th from 605 entrants for a cool $117,165 but her biggest score to date is $261,646 for finishing third in a $1,500 no-limit Hold'em event during the 2007 WSOP. To date Schoenberg has $710,161 in live tournament winnings, ten times less than her alleged new boyfriend who has over $7,200,000 to his name.
With the amount of media coverage at poker events around the world it should not be long until there is official confirmation from either camp but it will be interesting to see what, if anything, happens when Lindgren and Benyamine meet at the felt in the future.
