Annette Obrestad - Sundays are suppose to be fun eh?

Well, I guess they can be fun but most of the time you end up scratching ur head wondering what went wrong and why you didn't win the Sunday Million instead of the random donk that makes it through the minefields every week...
The variance can be devestating at times. I know a lot of players have big expecations when they for example win a satellite to play in the bigger buy in tourneys. But the odds of actually making the final table in those or even getting close are sooooooooo slim that ur chances sucks no matter how good u are. You have to run like a god and play well to get there and it's a tough combination, because we can't control the cards, only what we do with them.
Luck is involved and we all know it. Yet it ruins lives. Bad beats, bad calls, bluffs that won't work, resteals that go wrong, continuation bets constantly getting check raised when u miss are all parts of being on the wrong side of variance. Not just having the best hand hold up. Many fail to realize just this and end up just saying 'fuck it' and start making bad decisions because they think they have to get lucky sooner or later like everyone else seems to be doing. If ur having problems with tilt I suggest taking a small break until u calm down or go to study ur own game. Go through hands you think u misplayed. Could you have done something differently or were you just unlucky? Keeping ur cool through the bad runs is what seperates the good from the great players and I really cant stress it enough.. So next time ur having a bad day. Stop. And think. Before making ur decisions!
To sum up my day, I made the money in the FTOPS event, but went out pretty deep on a semibluff. Also had some other small cashes but noting special. Probably broke even for the day so not too bad.
I'm done rambling now, so u can go read something else :)
Cheers

You hit the nail right on the head with this one Annette. I recently experienced the worst run of luck in my poker career. Unfortunately I've had to dip into my bankroll to help with some bills lately too which makes my running bad seem that much worse. I took about a week break and I think it helped a lot. There is an article that Negreanu wrote for Cardplayer a couple years ago called "So you're running bad" that is great, you can find on cardplayer.com I believe or fullcontactpoker.com I would think also.

Hi Annette,
There is a typo in your first or second blog.
It has your set losing to 2 pair (Ted Forrest)
Other than that, it sounds like you played the hand perfectly.
Jim.

Hey Annette_15 ! I must say how great your winner without even looking at the cards was! I would also like to invite you to sell some shares in some of your tourneys! The pokerclient is your choice! It is possible to set up your own amount of shares and the cost of each share and so on!It would be fun and interesting if you would like to become a member and make deals in the forum at the link: www.stakeapokerplay.eamped.com
Once again ! I am impressed with your efforts!!
Good Luck and a Happy new Year / DIAMONDxxx
