Warwick Betting: The Mercia's Richard Neale 10am to 2pm Handicap (Class 4)
Timeform rate the runners in this eight-runner handicap
Eight go to post for a competitive-looking handicap at Warwick on a typically low-key day of racing. The application of blinkers has brought about an improvement from Moheebb of late. Ruth Carr's charge has finished placed on his last two starts, finishing third to Best Prospect at Doncaster before left with a lot to do and beaten only a neck by Exit Smiling at Newcastle a week later. Moheebb has gone up just 2 lb in the weights on the back of those efforts and with the longer trip and the soft ground both in his favour, everything points to a big run.
The lightly-raced Inspirina followed up his win in a maiden at Kempton with an improved effort over a trip that probably stretched him, racing freely throughout when beaten three and three-quarters of a length by Motarjm at Wolverhampton. The form of that race was given a severe boost by both the winner and the third horse, Schlem, winning next time out, and it's unlikely we've seen the best of Inspirina just yet.
Snowed Under is one of three of the runners making their seasonal reappearance and would hold strong claims if running to the pick of his 2007 form. His best performance came when landing his fifth win over course and distance in Leicester in August when defeating Fabrian. He's since dropped back to his mark that day of 73, whilst his prominent racing style is another plus, with the course favouring those up with the pace.
Another whose front-running tendencies will be of benefit is Dove Cottage, who despite failing to win last season ran some creditable races in defeat. He begins the new campaign off a mark just 3 lb than for his last success and should go well.
Quince is a quirky sort but is another who is dropping to a favourable mark. He failed to build on a relatively encouraging reappearance a week on from finishing third to Granston at Doncaster and there's a chance he may need further than this nowadays.
Cheshire Prince wasn't seen out again last season after winning for the second time in a month when beating Cat De Mille by five lengths in a handicap at Chester. Whether he'll be at peak fitness following an absence of nearly eight months remains to be seen, and he'll need to be if he's to defy an 8 lb rise for that win.
The line-up is completed by two horses from Robert Stronge's yard. Prince Charlemagne makes his first start for the trainer having been claimed out of Karl Burke's yard following his below-form second to Competitor in a seller at Lingfield. He races off his lowest mark since his 3-y-o days here and is well worth a check in the market. Most Definitely has been running mostly creditable efforts in defeat of late, though his tendency to finish weakly is unlikely to see him end his losing run, which stretches back over two years, any time soon.
