"Confront in the 4:15 at Salisbury is the best bet of the day for me. Rated 116 the handicapper has Sir Michael Stoute’s four year-old son of Nayef as the best horse in the race, by a minimum of four pounds."
Carl Harris expects Michael Stoute and Ryan Moore to continue their excellent season today...
I think it was Meat Loaf who said two out of three 'aint bad, which was exactly how things turned out for us yesterday. The week goes very quickly and we have arrived at Thursday already, with five flat meetings and jumping at Stratford. There is another good race at Salisbury, the group three Sovereign Stakes.
Confront (4:15) is the best bet of the day for me. Rated 116 the handicapper has Sir Michael Stoute's four year-old son of Nayef as the best horse in the race, by a minimum of four pounds. He drops down to group three, from a decent run in the group two Summer Mile where he was second to Aqlaam and you have to think that a reproduction of that level of performance will see Confront home well in front. It is a recurring theme but Sir Michael Stoute and Ryan Moore have had an excellent season and simply cannot be ignored. Having spent quite some time rating this race, I think Confront could be a good thing here and is the best bet of the day, for sure.
Chris Wall is a very good trainer and has an improving sort on his hands with Surprise Party (4.35) who is looking to land the hat-trick at Sandown. Back to back wins at Yarmouth over a mile have illustrated the well being of the filly who will probably go up more than the six pounds extra she has to carry today. Last week, under today's pilot George Baker, she was soon in front and just went clear and could do the same again.
She will come late on the scene, but George Baker is an excellent judge of pace who rarely gets his tactics wrong.
Thursdays Bets:
Back Confront @ [2.4] in the 4:15 @ Salisbury
Back Surprise Party @ [3.15] in the 4:35 @ Sandown
