With Goodwood ending in a profit for Carl Harris, our daily tipster turns his attentions to Newbury and Chester in search of more value bets.

Well, having had an up and down time of things at Goodwood it all came right on Saturday with Zacinto living up to reports and Midday winning at what I can only describe as an enormous price. Knot In Wood played his part running another sound race to be placed in the Stewards Cup. That put the festival well and truly into profit and certainly made it a very good day despite the horrible conditions. Sunday should be a dry day, according to the weather forecasts, but they told us it would be a tropical summer so your guess is as good as mine on that score. I will be taking things steady today but will have a couple of small interests that I think should make a profit.

As we saw at Goodwood this week Sir Michael Stoute has his horses in great order. Ryan Moore is riding very well and the pair team up in familiar colours for the feature race on the Newbury card, the listed E.b.f. Chalice Stakes over 1m 4f. Phillipina (3.20) dotted up in a maiden last time out at Nottingham, as was expected of a horse who had finished sixth in the Oaks previously. That form should be good enough to win with the main danger being Fallen In Love from John Dunlop's team, second to Barshiba last time out at group two level. I think that Phillipina just has the edge and will top off a great week for connections by winning.
