Daily Racing Tips: Let's get back on the winning trail at Newcastle

After some good results last week the weekend and the start of the new week has been disastrous. I am also under the weather and could do with the pick-me-up of a couple of winners. Having looked at the cards for Tuesday, which features jumping at Huntingdon and Flat racing at Leicester, I am looking for a couple of winners at Newcastle.

The old adage of always follow a filly in form has paid handsome dividends in the shape of Milton of Campsie (14:50) who goes north in search of a four timer. The booking of Kieren Fallon for the four-year-old looks significant and is definitely taken as a positive. John Keats was behind in third last time out at Ayr, but close enough to pose a threat here, that said he was apprentice ridden that day and seven pounds extra is carried today which sufficiently diminishes the threat in my view. Given the form I think we are getting exceptional value with Milton of Campsie at [6.0].

The best bet of the day for me is Astrodiva (15:50) who has found a maiden of such low quality that she will probably never run in a worse race that this. Though no world beater Mark Tompkins has hit the jackpot by finding a race where his filly is so far clear of the field that she should win on the bridle. These sort of races often afford backers some value as layers look to get the hitherto unreliable favourite beaten. It would be a turn up if Astrodiva is not seen in the winners enclosure this afternoon. I suggest she is the best bet of the day.
