Walthamstow again on the agenda as greyhounds take over Betfair Radio

BGRB explain their attempts to save east London track

Richard Hayler, the general secretary of the British Greyhound Racing Board, revealed the work the board has been doing behind the scenes in an attempt to thwart the closure of Walthamstow when a guest on Tuesday's Dog Show on Betfair Radio 2.

The BGRB had come under heavy fire from leading owner Ricky Holloway at what was perceived as inactivity on the part of the Board since it was announced greyhound racing's flagship stadium will race for the last time one August 16.

Trainers John Mullins, Tony Collet and Julie Bateson, all on the back of big race victories, were also on the show as was Declan Carey, the Shelbourne Park racing manager, who looked forward to selecting just 18 runners from an entry of double that figure for the Champion Stakes at the weekend.

Declan also provide some pointers to the Irish Derby, which begins at the Dublin track next month.
