Trainer expects the greyhound to be back in training in three weeks, says Mark Sullivan.
Betfair Star, our greyhound currently sidelined with a shoulder injury, is responding well to treatment according to Seamus Cahill, his Walthamstow-based trainer.
The son of Head Bound sustained a torn muscle in his nearside shoulder during his third race at the Stow on July 8 and has been receiving physiotherapy care ever since.
.
Seamus said: "We have been treating him with ultrasound and so far so good. That treatment will last for approximately three weeks after which he will have a spell on the gallops - probably ten days or so - before a sprint trial.
"Hopefully, that will be the end of the problem and Betfair Star can start to become the exciting dog we expect him to be."
Ultrasound therapy uses high-frequency sound waves to produce heat that can reduce pain and helps stimulate blood flow through the affected area thus breaking down inflammation and repairing muscle damage.
So it looks as though Betfair Star, who has had three races to date at Walthamstow, will be back racing for Seamus before the end of August, which will probably mean he will have his next competitive assignment against graded company at Hove.
Seamus is scheduled to start at the south coast track when Walthamstow closes on August 16 and he believes Betfair Star will have no problem getting used to racing at Hove just as he has become familiar with Walthamstow.
"Hove is a lovely big track with wide sweeping bends. It suits good fast dogs with decent stamina and I see no reason why Betfair Star won't do well there provided he stays 515 metres - a distance at which has so far no been tested."
Some encouragement on that score can be taken from the fact that Shanteen Lass, the dam of Betfair Star, won over 550 yards (503 metres) in Ireland and also raced, although unsuccessfully, over 600 yards and 700 yards.
