Gavin Henson is a Welsh rugby union player who currently plays for Aviva Premiership team Bath Rugby, having previously played for Swansea, Ospreys, Saracens, Toulon, Cardiff Blues, London Welsh and the Wales national team. Considered as one of the most talented players of his generation, Henson's career has suffered from a number of problems since 2010, with injuries and off-field problems often robbing the game of a genuinely high-class player.

Henson's talent was clear from his early days playing for Swansea RFC, with the young back earning the International Rugby Board's Young Player of the Year award in 2001 after making his Wales debut against Japan. Following the launch of regional rugby in Wales, Henson signed for the Ospreys in 2003 and was soon established as one of the Welsh side's most talented players.
Henson really burst onto the international scene in 2004 with a series of excellent performances in Wales' autumn internationals against New Zealand and South Africa, playing in a number of positions along the backline and proving his versatility.
Henson retained his place in the Wales squad for the 2005 Six Nations Championship, going on to play a huge role in the Welsh winning a sensational Grand Slam, subsequently earning a call-up to the British and Irish Lions for the 2005 tour of New Zealand.
After a number of off-field issues that resulted in his absence from the national squad during the 2007 World Cup, Henson played his way back into the Wales squad for the 2008 Six Nations, which again finished with Wales winning the Grand Slam, with Henson starting every game for the Welsh in their second Grand Slam in three years.
Injuries really began to impact Henson's game in 2009, ultimately keeping the Welsh star sidelined for 18 months before his move to the Aviva Premiership with Saracens. A short-lived spell in London was followed by equally brief stints with Toulon, Cardiff Blues and London Welsh.
A move to Bath followed after London Welsh's relegation from the Premiership, possibly handing Henson his last chance to prove he is still capable of playing regular club rugby at a high level following his injury problems. A strong season for Bath would certainly get people talking about him for the right reasons again, and at 31, there is still time for Henson to possibly break back into that Wales squad before the 2015 World Cup.
