WSOP Main Event Reaches Day 3; Europeans Flying High
Gaelle Baumann: The overall chip leader going into Day 3

Being a European-facing company Betfair Poker are obviously going to be slightly biased towards fellow European players and boy do we have some extremely talented European players still in this vast field.

The 2012 World Series of Poker Main Event has progressed to its official Day 3 where 1,765 of the original 6,598 players remain. These 1,765 survivors are currently being lead by Frenchwoman Galle Baumann and he gigantic 505,800 chip stack; can she hold onto that lead by the end of play on Day 3.

We brought you the news of Baumann leading the fields of Day 2a and 2b yesterday and we thought then that her total would not be matched; we were correct. The largest chip stack from Day 2c ended up belonging to Michael Hack who bagged up an impressive 457,000 chips, enough to place him in fourth place overall.

Being a European-facing company Betfair Poker are obviously going to be slightly biased towards fellow European players and boy do we have some extremely talented European players still in this vast field. Chip leader aside, our next most impressive chip stack belongs to Sweden's Erik Hellman (397,900), closely followed by Jan Kasten of Germany (391,800). The highest ranked British player is down - if you can actually call it that - in 24th place, which is where you will find the name of a certain Sam Holden.

Holden bagged up 352,600 chips at the end of Day 2c and has given himself a realistic chance of doing the unthinkable and reaching back-to-back WSOP Main Event final tables. Although there is a very long way to go until we can really start to get excited about that prospect Holden is more than capable of doing it. Another former November Nine players is also well chipped up, Eoghan O'Dea. The Irishman bagged and tagged 193,000 chips to find himself in 235th place when play resumes, his stack nicely over average size.

I have a very good feeling about the WSOP Main Event from a European point of view, simply because we have some phenomenal players till in with a chance of that massive $8,527,982 first place prize. Along side the aforementioned players we have the likes of Jake Cody, Chris Moorman and James Keys and many more beside. Good to luck to each and every one of them when play restarts today at 20:00 UK time.
