14 August - Amy's in the Hunt for more glory at 3/1
Amy Hunt is the 3/14.00 joint favourite on the Betfair Sportsbook, with Josh Kerr, to win the BBC Sports Personality of the Year (SPOTY) 2026 after she took her second Gold medal of the European Championships.
The 24-year-old won the 200m last night after triumphing in the 100m earlier this week. For her second victory of the Championship, she overtook compatriot Dina Asher-Smith down the home straight to cross the line first.
Hunt is targeting a quadruple of Golds in Birmingham and will compete in the women's and mixed 4x100m relay events at the weekend. If Hunt wins Gold in either of those contests, expect her to become the outright favourite for SPOTY on the Betfair Sportsbook.
Scottish runner Kerr, meanwhile, broke the one mile world record, clocking in a time of 3min 42.66sec. He is not competing at the European Championship but, as only the seventh British man to ever hold the record for fastest mile, he will be a contender for SPOTY come December, especially if he has more success in the prestigious Diamond League meetings over the next four weeks.
Former-favourite Kane drifts after World Cup failure
Earlier in the summer, Harry Kane was the favourite to win SPOTY as fans put their faith in the England captain leading their team to victory at the World Cup.
It didn't happen and, although Kane has had an excellent 2026 thanks to his performances for Bayern Munich, he is out to 11/26.50. A victory in this year's Ballon d'Or could yet boost his SPOTY claims.
Darts star Luke Littler is also 11/26.50, while another England footballer, Jude Bellingham, is 15/28.50.
The Team GB skeleton racer Matt Weston, who won two golds at this year's Milan Cortina Winter Games in Italy, is 7/18.00.
Last year's winner Rory McIlroy, who claimed a consecutive Masters title in April, is 10/111.00 to do the SPOTY 1-2 - something not seen since Andy Murray's wins in 2015 and '16.
As the moves in the market over the last couple of months have shown - with Kane drifting from 11/82.38 to his current price - things change fast when it comes to the SPOTY betting.
"Fast" is the operative word where Hunt is concerned. She's already charged her way to Gold and, if she can add more titles, the runner will be leading the race for SPOTY.
