19 February - Weston favourite after winning two Winter Olympics golds
Matt Weston is the favourite to win SPOTY 2026 on the Betfair Exchange after becoming the first Briton to win two gold medals at the Winter Olympics in Cortina.
The GB Olympian claimed his first gold in the individual skeleton just two days before a brilliant performance with Tabby Stoeker in the mixed team skeleton gained him a second gold medal.

Trading on the Betfair Exchange suggests that Weston's place at the top of the SPOTY market is being taken seriously rather than written off as a short-term reaction. His odds have remained fairly stable at around 7.613/2 since he won his medals, which points to continued confidence from bettors rather than a rush to oppose him.
In SPOTY markets, early firmness often reflects a belief that the achievement will still resonate with voters at the end of the year.
Just behind Weston, George Russell sits at double-figure odds 10.519/2, a price that reflects his profile as much as his results in Formula One. Bettors appear to be keeping him in mind without fully committing, likely waiting to see whether he can deliver a title push which would put him firmly in the public eye.
Luke Littler, meanwhile, continues to attract interest at 11.521/2. His odds suggest he still has work to do to break into the very top of the market, but Betfair prices can move quickly. Another major win for the darts prodigy on a big stage later in the year could easily see support gather and his odds shorten as momentum builds.
This is, of course, a World Cup year so England's footballers could feature if they are successful at the tournament in North America this summer. At the moment, captain Harry Kane 13.012/1 is the shortest priced player in the market.
