Brian O'Driscoll is an Irish professional rugby union player, currently playing his club rugby for Leinster and internationally for Ireland. O'Driscoll captained Ireland from 2003 until 2012, leading the British and Irish Lions during their 2005 tour of New Zealand. With 136 test caps to his name - 128 for Ireland and eight for the Lions - O'Driscoll's 48 test tries make him the eighth all-time highest scorer in international rugby, and the highest scoring centre in the history of test rugby.

After making his debut for Leinster in 1999, O'Driscoll has gone on to win three Celtic League titles in 2001/2002, 2007/2008, and 2012/2013, three Heineken Cup titles in 2008/2009, 2010/2011, and 2011/2012, as well as the 2013 Amlin European Challenge Cup. The veteran centre's 30 tries in the Heineken Cup is the most by an Irishman.
Despite holding the record for leading try scorer in the Six Nations and being named Player of the Tournament on three occasions, O'Driscoll has only won the tournament once in his career, in the Grand Slam winning year of 2009. O'Driscoll has played for Ireland in four World Cups, making 17 appearances and scoring seven tries in the tournament, becoming Ireland's most capped player on 26 June 2010 against Australia by winning his 103rd cap.
O'Driscoll announced himself as a British and Irish Lion on the 2001 tour of Australia, scoring a sensational try in the opening test victory at the Gabba before the hosts fought back to win the series 2-1. A serious shoulder injury in 2005 ended his tour of New Zealand early, and a head injury cut short his 2009 tour of South Africa in the second test.
After failing to finish a British and Irish Lions tour with a series win from his three previous tours, O'Driscoll finally tasted victory in a Lions shirt in 2013. In his fourth tour as a Lion, only the third player in 125 years to achieve this, O'Driscoll started two of the three tests as the tourists claimed a famous 2-1 series win in Australia.
O'Driscoll has also appeared three times for the invitational Barbarians rugby team; a try-scoring appearance against South Africa in 2000, and against Scotland and England in 2004.
Widely regarded as one of Ireland's greatest ever players, O'Driscoll also has a strong case to claim to be the northern hemisphere's most complete centre in the modern game. Now entering the final year of his professional career, O'Driscoll will go down as one of world rugby's best centres in the modern game.
