In Manchester, Gerwyn Price became the third player of this Premier League campaign to pick up more than one nightly win to move him up to second in the standings with seven nights remaining until finals night.

  • Price to put himself in an even better position to qualify for The O2

  • MvG could capitalise on GVV's inconsistencies

  • Luke Littler 4/61.67 favourite to win the Premier League again

A series of spectacular performances from Gerwyn Price on night nine of this year's darting roadshow saw the Welsh number two secure a second nightly win of the season and strengthen his position in the top four of the table.

Along with Luke Littler and Jonny Clayton, The Iceman already seems set to seal a spot at finals night with it looking increasingly likely that the remaining players are now battling it out for that fourth and final place.

Having reached The O2 for just the second time in his career in 2025, the Welshman hasn't always found the Premier League a happy hunting ground but undeniably one of the stand out performers of the year so far, maybe his fortunes will change this time around. A finalist in 2023, Price is now second favourite at 5/16.00 to get his hands on the trophy for the first time in May, with his World Cup partner Jonny Clayton 10/111.00 and title favourite Luke Littler 4/61.67.

Price to pick up more points

Gerwyn Price's lowest average across his three games in Manchester was 104, he was absolutely breathtaking en route to picking up the five points that have elevated him up into second place in the table.

The 2021 World Champion has the best finishing stats across the opening nine weeks of the Premier League, up at a very impressive 48%. His level has been so high that players are having to up their game and produce somewhere near their best, more often than not, to beat him.

He'll be full of confidence after last week, he seems to be in a very good headspace and with runs to two Players Championship finals, winning one of them, as well as reaching a final on the Euro Tour, he is also taking care of business away from the Premier League, giving him more freedom to manage his schedule with ranking points already acquired.

For a while, this was one tournament that The Iceman couldn't seem to crack but it feels as though that might change in the not too distant future.

His opponent this week also recorded averages in excess of a ton in the matches he played in Manchester and there were certainly more encouraging signs for Josh Rock but having lacked that killer instinct for much of the campaign, I think Price will again sense blood here and condemn the reigning World Cup winner to an eighth quarter-final defeat.

Whilst he's not the most prolific 180 hitter on the circuit, he hit nine last week and I'm backing him to win and hit three or more maximums at [EVS].

Price has also produced more nine darters in this competition than anyone else and Rock has delivered the only one of this campaign so far. Given how both played in their opening games last week, I'm also taking a punt with either player hitting 6+ perfect darts to start a leg at 13/82.63

All Dutch dual difficult to predict

Gian van Veen returned to Euro Tour action at the weekend but suffered defeat with an underwhelming showing in his opening game as he averaged 91, getting only three darts at double in the contest, yet more proof that he's still not completely back up to speed following his recent health concerns.

That inconsistency since his return along with Michael van Gerwen's form of late lead me to think there's value in backing MvG to win at 11/102.11 and make it three wins on the spin against his young Dutch opponent, having come out on top in their two previous meetings in 2026. There's been a lot to like about his attitiude and demeanour this year and whilst there have still been a few below par performances, by and large, it's taking a good display to get the better of him.

I also like the look of both players hitting three or more 180s each at 13/82.63.
