Recital

Recital is a French bred racecourse who is currently trained in the United Arab Emirates by Ahmed Kobeissi.

The son of the former Prix de L'Arc de Triomphe winner Montjeu had a spell in Ireland with Aidan O'Brien from 2010 until 2011 before his switch to Qatar.

He is now owned by Mohammed Kazil Al Ansari & sons but used to run in the colours of Ballydoyle.

Recital's racecourse debut came as a two-year old at Navan on October 20, 2010. He was successful on his opening racecourse appearance in a maiden over one mile. The Irish Champion Trainer's runner went off as the 5/2 favourite with Johnny Murtagh on board and took the track well to prevail comfortably.

A month later, the colt scored in a Group One contest over in France at Saint-cloud. The two-year-old race over 1m2f was on heavy ground but he was able to get the better of the other nine runners to end a very successful opening campaign. It gave connections hope leading into the Classics in 2012.

The following season, the horse started in Ireland in a Group Three at Leopardstown.  Despite being the odds-on favourite, he had to settle for third behind Banimpire and Regent Street.

Recital made up for that loss at the same course in May by landing the Derrinstown Stud Derby Trial, after which he was given an official rating of 115. Connections decided to have a go at the English Classic at Epsom following his victory in Ireland. He was one of four runners representing O'Brien but he could finish no better than sixth place in the race. French raider Pour Moi was able to edge out Treasure Beach by a neck after coming from last to first in a late surging run.

His next outing was in the Irish Champion Stakes at Leopardstown, which proved to be his last run in Europe. He came home last of the six runners in the Group One over 1m2f.
Later in 2011 he switched to Darren Williams' stable. His opening run in Qatar was at Doha in the Thoroughbred Guineas. He was sixth in his first attempt at a mile since his debut as a two-year old.

After two months' rest, Recital returned in 2012 at Qatar racecourse. He was unable to get competitive in the Group One H.H Heir Apparent Trophy in a disappointing effort.
Three more runs have come since then in the UAE but he has failed to adapt to Asian racing.
