Chepstow, 17:00 - Back Vape E/W @ 16/117.00

Course-and-distance winner Vape has plenty of valuable experience in his favour as he bids to return to form having failed to show the best of his ability so far this year. He did put in an improved effort here when last seen, returning over the 6f, but still requires further improvement to be competitive for the places.

This is a drop back down in class for the nine-year-old, from a 2lb lower mark than when last successful here a year ago. He won this race twelve months ago from a higher mark, therefore shouldn't be discounted in familiar surroundings from a workable rating.

Lingfield, 17:52 - Back Balon d'Or @ 5/16.00

Five-year-old gelding Balon d'Or is now 7lb lower than when last successful in a Chester handicap for former trainer Hugo Palmer last autumn. It has taken him some time to get going for his new yard, now based with Simon Dow, but he has shaped with promise on occasion in recent runs, including when beaten only a length over 5f here in June, and when fourth to Elvetham over course-and-distance earlier this month.

Well-treated at the weights with recent course form, this could be a feasible opportunity for the son of Kodiac to record a fourth career win and get off the mark for his new stable. He's a likeable performer on his day and could put in a competitive effort under Paddy Bradley.

Bet of the day: Wolverhampton, 18:30 - Back He's A Gentleman E/W @ 10/111.00

In the hands of Oisin Murphy for Hugo Palmer, He's A Gentleman holds solid claims as he seeks a seventh career success. He's only 2lb higher than his last winning mark and has had a relatively recent run from which he could improve, having returned from a 102-day break when last seen at Chester.

The course-and-distance winner was only narrowly denied in both of his previous two starts at this venue, beaten a neck by Farasi Lane in his penultimate outing which followed a nose defeat to Serious Look. Whilst he hasn't had much luck in recent runs, this could be the chance for him to return to the winners' enclosure in familiar surroundings.

Wolverhampton, 19:00 - Back Blue Celestial @ 3/14.00

James Tate-trained filly Blue Celestial is still bidding for a first career win but has made the frame on multiple occasions and finished second in both of her latest starts, including over course-and-distance when chasing home Sunshine And Roses here last month.

Although her mark has gone up for her creditable efforts in defeat, she remains open to further improvement and potentially well-treated from a rating of 64 if things fall right.

The daughter of Advertise is in good form currently and represents an in-form yard. She possesses enough talent to shed her maiden tag and could make it 13th time lucky under Silvestre De Sousa.

Roscommon, 19:15 - Back Earls E/W @ 11/26.50

Gavin Cromwell-trained Earls has course-and-distance winning form and makes appeal from a mark of 78 having won this race four years ago. He has more recent winning form at the track too, having won last September when rated 2lb lower, and was second of 14 runners to Sun Soldier at odds of 33/134.00 here earlier in the campaign.

Since his latest trip to this venue, the nine-year-old has finished second twice and placed third in his latest outing at the Galway Festival, therefore comes into the race in good form currently having been knocking on the door. He has posed a threat in each of his latest four outings, including at double-figure odds on three occasions, and holds strong each-way claims once again.

Wolverhampton, 19:30 - Back Fizzy Cristal E/W @ 15/28.50

Dark Angel filly Fizzy Cristal is on her last winning mark of 67 with Warren Fentiman claiming 3lb in the saddle once again, and could be able to improve on her latest efforts back on the all-weather over 6f, a distance at which she is proven.

She emerged with credit in deeper waters at Chester earlier in the campaign when fourth at odds of 20/121.00 to Ruby's Angel, a subsequent second in Listed company at Pontefract.

At this level, the Richard and Peter Fahey-trained three-year-old should be able to give a good account of herself and may be worth keeping the faith in.

Roscommon, 20:15 - Back Summer Snow E/W @ 14/115.00

In Roscommon's finale on Tuesday, a mile-and-a-half handicap, Summer Snow is an interesting contender for Peter Lawlor under 5lb claiming Patrick McGettigan.

The six-year-old mare is on a lenient mark of 69, 12lb below her last win when successful at the Galway Festival last year in a 15-runner handicap, beating Apache Outlaw by a length, but she has so far failed to take advantage of a slipping mark this year.

Although she is yet to get off the mark for the season, the grey mare has put in a couple of decent efforts at Down Royal and Gowran Park respectively, and, having dropped further down the ratings, could pose a threat from her current mark if coping with this new assignment.

This a step up in distance for the mare in her 40th career start, but there is some evidence in her pedigree that would suggest this extra trip is worth trying. She's related to some middle-distance performers as well as stayers, and, at this stage in her career, this new challenge could well suit.
