Hawke's Repetitio can keep his good season going

Nigel Hawke's Repetitio is enjoying a consistent season, and he can put his stamina to good use for the 1m6f handicap towards the start of the card.

Rated 130 hurdles, Hawke found a good opportunity earlier this season to exploit his Flat rating to win over 2m at Chepstow - a race where he displayed his stamina with a strong finish by coming from off the pace.

He has since performed well including a runner-up effort over course and distance last month, in what was a slightly stronger race than today's. He bumped into a stout stayer owned by the Queen that day called Space Walk, but it was a fine effort in behind.

Be Easy should improve with the blinkers as she is bred to be a good stayer, but she hasn't backed up her promising debut and might have to settle for a place behind Repetitio - who can win more races from his current rating of 74. He won't mind soft ground either, and with 11 runners, he looks a sound bet to make the first three places at around 2.1011/10.

Highwaygrey looks a good each-way bet for finale

Once again the Place market appeals with Tim Easterby's progressive Highwaygrey - and he can be backed at 3.1085/40 to make the first three, and 9.6017/2 to win.

He was a frustrating character in 2019, though. He landed a race over course and distance in May in dramatic fashion coming from last to first having blown the start, but he didn't really build on that despite a series of solid efforts.

This season however, he has been a revelation with three victories. All three of those were at Pontefract, and he travelled ever so well in two wins to remain a feasibly treated horse from his current handicap mark.

Last time out he was drawn poorly on the wing at Chester but rattled home. The track was possibly too sharp as a valid excuse too, but they way he picked up on that occasion suggests he is type that can easily outstay his rivals over today's 1m2f trip.

Most of his form is with better ground, but he seems fine on good to soft, so he could get away it with a drying day.
