The biggest win of his career came in the Group Two Dante Stakes at York, which is a trial for the Derby. He then went into the English classic as the 5/2 favourite but had to settle for third place behind Pour Moi and Treasure Beach.

Whilst in the UK, Carlton House was trained by Sir Michael Stoute. He is now in the hands of Gai Waterhouse in Australia.

As a two-year old, the colt made his debut at Salisbury in a maiden over 1m. He finished second on his opening racecourse appearance, four lengths behind Pivotman.

A month later, Carlton House did break his maiden tag at Newbury in impressive style by nine lengths.

The Queen's horse opened up after his seasonal reappearance in the Dante. He went off at 11/4 in the betting on the Knavesmire, behind favourite Seville and World Domination.

Jockey Ryan Moore was able to hold his mount up and release a run in the final furlong to score by over a length.

There was a lot of interest in Carlton House in the Derby on June 4, 2011. He was fancied to go well and give the Royal family a Classic winner. However, the French raider Pour Moi came from last to first to pick everything up in the 1m4f contest. Aidan O'Brien's Treasure Beach was a neck behind in second.

Stoute's runner was unable to reverse the form with Treasure Beach in the Irish Derby at the Curragh. This time he came home fourth in his bid for Group One success as
O'Brien's mount made up for missing out on the Epsom win to score in Ireland.

After almost a year off the track through injury, Carlton House returned to win the Group Three Brigadier Gerard Stakes at Sandown in May 2011. That proved to be his last win in the UK.

Three further runs came at Ascot during his four-year old campaign. He was second behind So You Think in the Prince of Wales's stakes at Royal Ascot. A month later he was fourth at the same course in a weaker race, while his final appearance was in the Queen Elizabeth II Stakes on British Champions Day in 2012 where he came home in fourth again.
