14:25 Plumpton - Back Benevolentdictator @ 4.03/1
Local trainer Gary Moore sends out the highly-progressive Benevolentdictator on Sunday, and he holds a major chance in the feature Sussex National.
He looks a real up-and-comer following wins at today's course and Lingfield. He was so impressive around here recently, dotting up by 14 lengths, that the 11lb rise in the weights might not be enough to stop him.
To my eye he looked a relentless galloper, and still a bit gawky on the first circuit, but he picked up well at the crown of the bend to show a good attitude too - as he went through the top two out, but put in a big jump at the last.
He's a massive horse too so the step up in distance and his run style should suit.
Charlie Mann's Defi Des Carres could be one if you are playing each-way, as he was 9/1 on the Sportsbook on Saturday evening, and that looks interesting considering his UK debut was at Cheltenham in the Cross Country race.
But Benevolentdictator is two from two and still on the upgrade.
Another Catterick success beckons?
14:35 Catterick - Back Out On The Tear @ 3.02/1
The standout bet on the Catterick card for Sunday is the unexposed chaser Out On The Tear - who is looking to win another Northern Lights' Qualifier and can be backed at 3.02/1.
This horse often travels quite well in his races so he's an intriguing prospect going up in distance, as he looked well ahead of his mark winning at Catterick last time out over 2m. That was only his second run chasing, and there is also the added bonus of conditional Charlie Todd claiming 5lb.
Conditions will suit and I think he'll see out the trip even though he travels well. In complete contrast for those looking to lay-to-back, Talktomenow will surely come off the bridle early as he looks all about stamina.
Indeed, he won over 3m2f last time, and is coming back quite a hefty way in distance and wouldn't have the gears the selection possesses.
