Gold can set the standard in staying event
13:40 Lingfield - Back Gold Standard @ 5.14/1
Another couple of placed efforts yesterday added to a pair of seconds this week, but keep an eye on Benevolentdictator, he looks as though he wants about 16 miles judged on that run in the Sussex National.
We start with a bet for Monday in a staying race at Lingfield and Gold Standard should be well equipped if the contest becomes tactical. He has plenty of form over 1m4f, but ran well over the course and distance (2m) last time to suggest he'll go close. In fact his last three starts he has performed to a fair level.
Cheekpieces are on to illicit a little more improvement from a low weight, and he travelled quite nicely last time to suggest he can win from 62.
Gabriel can end long losing streak
15:10 at Lingfield - Back G For Gabriel @ 5.14/1
There doesn't appear to be any handicap lurkers in this very ordinary race, and that should give a chance to G For Gabriel to finally get his head in front.
It's been a bit of a struggle to win for him, but at this sort of level he's been running with a bit of consistency. He was unlucky in a race at Wolverhampton back in October, but he's a handy racer that comes off the bridle who I can see playing a part. In fact with the drop from 0-70 to 0-55, he should be competitive from his mark.
Last time out at Wolverhampton he stayed on for third from a mark of 57 and he's down a 1lb for an extra furlong, and I think that could suit.
This will also be his first run on the Polytrack.
