Sedgefield - 15:42 - Back Im The Boss
Im The Boss wasn't competitive at the finish in any of his three starts in Irish points but he showed some promise and looks likely to be better suited by the test of a bumper than three miles over fences.
On his debut at Loughanmore, he travelled well in a prominent position for a long way and was in a close second leaving the back straight for the final time on the very long run to the last but he emptied quickly turning the final bend and dropped away to be a well beaten fifth.
He was very disappointing next time when in trouble a long way out and was pulled up but he showed a bit more of his third and final start twelve days later at Ballingarry. He was held up and was still there turning down the back straight for the final time in a closely packed field. He started to make headway after jumping four out and moved into fifth turning out of the back straight but his effort flattened out and he couldn't make any further progress.
The way that Im The Boss travelled through the race on debut suggests that he has some ability and I think he's likely to be better suited by this sharper test. He also had no chance given the tactics on his latest start so shaped better than the bare result suggests that day and it was his third run in a month and a half so he might have needed a break by that time.
There is a concern that he might have a wind issue given how quickly he cut out once coming under pressure on his first two starts and it could be that today will be more about educating him to settle with the hood going on but he's joined a good yard and hopefully he can make an impact on his rules debut. Any 12/113.00 or bigger appeals.
