South Africa Open 2026 - Contenders based on current form

Patrick Reed @ 11/112.00

As an 11/112.00 favourite - he could well have been a lot shorter - we make no apologies for making Patrick Reed our headline suggestion this week as he continues to make hay on the DP World Tour. Reed, a major championship winner and former world number six, is by far the class act in this week's field and arrives in terrific form. Third in last season's flagship event, the BMW PGA Championship, Reed has turned some consistent form into prolific form, winning both the Dubai Desert Classic and the Qatar Masters in two of his last three starts. And the one event of that trio that he didn't win, the Bahrain Championship, he finished runner-up. There's no more in-form player on the planet right now than the hugely talented American.

Jacob Skov Olesen @ 50/151.00

Jacob Skov Olesen was a suggestion in this section last week at 35/136.00, so it's a little surprising, and welcoming, to see him at 50/151.00 this week despite recording a top five finish in Kenya, which cemented his position as a form player. Prior to that he'd finished third, behind Patrick Reed, at the Qatar Masters and he was also in decent form towards the end of last year which was only a few months ago, with a T11 at the DP World Tour Championship being an excellent effort.

Oliver Lindell @ 40/141.00

Finnish golfer Oliver Lindell continues to climb the official world golf rankings on the back of some extremely consistent form towards the end of last year and into 2026. He recorded five consecutive top 20 finishes (three times in the top eight) prior to missing the cut at the Alfred Dunhill Links Championships, and has since made 10 consecutive cuts on the DP World Tour. His last two performances have been his best of the season, finishing ninth in the Bahrain Championship before recording a top five finish at the Qatar Masters a few weeks ago.
