The Spaniard was last seen on the DP World Tour finishing T3 at the Open de France only a fortnight ago. Three weeks prior he finished T4 at the Omega European Masters so, while he isn't always in contention, he frequently is challenging at the top of the leaderboard. In front of the home fans, in the city of his birth, this should be one of his hot weeks.
Ludvig Aberg @ 9/110.00
The Swede made the top 10 in France and should be force in this week's field. He has failed to finish outside the top 20 in just one of his last six tournaments and was T4 at the Tour Championship at the end of August.
Patrick Reed @ 22/123.00
The American withdrew from the BMW PGA Championship a week after finishing T2 at the Irish Open. He made the top 20 here last year and finished 10th in 2024 so there is course form in the bag too.
Open de Espana course form picks
Jon Rahm @ 9/110.00
With victories here in 2022 and '19, it might be difficult to see past the Spaniard who starts as joint-favourite with Aberg this week. Rahm also finished second in 2024 and he will be determined to improve on last year's ninth. His current form isn't great - he was last seen missing the cut at Wentworth - but his T2 at the US PGA this year showed he can still challenge on the big stages.
David Puig @ 25/126.00
Another Spaniard to have onside is this 24-year-old who finished ninth last year and third in 2024. Again the recent form rings an alarm bell, with T30 in Crans the best showing in his past five tournaments, but back in his home country Puig will be keen to bounce back.
Marco Penge @ 28/129.00
As defending champion, the Englishman is more than worthy of having onside this week, especially as he has been playing well too. He was T10 at the Biltmore last month, T18 at the Omega European Masters and, in August, T6 at the British Masters.
