Look to big-price South African players with course form
Joburg Open 2026 - Contenders based on current form
Casey Jarvis was already in decent form, finishing 13th and ninth in the space of a few weeks, but his form has gone up to another level in recent weeks, winning both the Kenya Open and South African Open back-to-back, and he's now ranked number 80 in the world after being ranked 200th just last month. Last week's South African Open win in his homeland would have been very special, and he'd love nothng more to complete a hat-trick of wins by winning on home soil again this week.
One man who might not be as keen as we are on Casey Jarvis winning this week will be Francesco Laporta. The Italian was in decent form at the start of the year with a couple of top 25 finishes, but like Jarvis he has taken his form up to another level in recent weeks, finishing four at the Kenya Open and second last week at the South African Open. Laporta finished inside the top 20 here 12 months ago, so now in much better form he'll be confident of a strong showng.
Joburg Open 2026 - Contenders based on course form
We don't have much course form to go on this week so we'll pick a pair of South Africans who will be desperate to play well in their homeland. Jacques Kruyswijk has been in decent form of late, recording top 20 finishes at the Dubai Invitational, the Dubai Desert Classic and the Kenya Open, so he looks a big price to go well this week considering that he finished fourth here in 2023 before finishing runner-up at this venue 12 months ago.
Shaun Norris hasn't been in great form of late but you only have to look a bit further back to see that he loves playing in his homeland. The South African ended 2025 with a brace of top five finishes, both in South Africa, which included a runner-up finish at the Nedbank Golf Challenge. So like most of the South African players he'll be keen to find that form again this week in Joburg, and he should have every chance of doing so after finishing 18th here in 2022 before finishing an excellent second here 12 months ago.
