The world number two has collected 150.16 points since the start of June - more than any other player in the field - so you can see why he is the man to beat this week. He finished second last time we saw him in action and third prior to that at the Abu Dhabi Championship. He's had a brilliant calendar year and will not want to let up now, esepcially as he is in a three-way race to win BBC Sports Personality of the Year.

The Spaniard's triumph at last week's Australian PGA Championship did not come from nowhere, after finishes of 12 and 14 in his previous two appearances, as well as a top 10 at the Open de Espana in October. He will be raring to go again in Melbourne. Could we see back to back victories for the 23-year-old?

Of the players in this week's field, the New Zealander is second only to McIlroy in the points chart for the past six months (although he is someway behind on 68.25). He was in down in 39th last week in Brisbane so will hope to be much higher up the leaderboard this time out. His points tally indicates he can do that comfortably.
