Genesis Scottish Open weather forecast for Thursday
It's a very pleasant opening day with temperatures starting in the mid-60s and settling in the early 70s.
Wind speeds look fairly consistent throughout at 9-12mph.
The BBC forecast sums it up nicely: "Sunny intervals and a gentle breeze."
First Round Leader Bet 1: Sahith Theegala @ 70/171.00
Sahith Theegala missed this event last year but in 2024 he played some excellent golf at The Renaissance Club to finish fourth.
He opened 66-65 and said after round two: "It was just a perfect day. Felt like a California day."
With similar weather conditions forecast, I like him to go low again.
The other big appeal is that last month he had a piece of the first-round lead in the Canadian Open thanks to a 64. As noted recently, there are lots of recent examples of players following one FRL with another.
Theegala, an afternoon starter at 12:59 from the 10th, can be the latest to do it. Take the 70/171.00.

First Round Leader Bet 2: Tom Kim @ 60/161.00
The case for Tom Kim is very similar to that of Theegala. The Korean also has recent experience of an 18-hole lead after carding a 64 on day one of the Charles Schwab Challenge in Texas.
But his biggest appeal is course form.
Kim has played this event four times and has finishes (2022-2025) of 3-6-15-17. In two of those he opened with a 66 which put him in the top 10 after day one in both 2023 and 2025.
This is a special tournament for Kim as he explained in 2023.
"This is where it started for me here, finishing third and edging close to that temporary status (on the PGA Tour). I love Scotland. The fresh air, I could live here. It's absolutely amazing."
Let's hope he relishes another great day on the links and thrives from his 07:11 (10th) tee time.

First Round Leader Bet 3: Matt McCarty @ 110/1111.00
Cameron Tringale, Byeong Hun An and Nico Echavarria have all led here after day one in the last four editions and I quite like the idea of another less celebrated PGA Tour player topping the Thursday charts.
So let's try morning starter Matt McCarty, who hits his opening shot from the 1st at 07:44.
The left-hander has held two first-round leads in his last six starts, setting the pace in the Truist Championship and the Charles Schwab Challenge.
He's had a couple of blowouts since, shooting in the 80s at both Memorial and the US Open but last time out he threw in a third-round 63 at the Travelers.
As for The Renaissance Club, he made his debut last year and shot 69-65 to sit 12th at halfway so McCarty can score here.
Some pleasant weather for the Arizona-based southpaw will certainly help him too.
