Weather forecast for Thursday
In theory, picking a FRL winner is much easier this week.
There are only 80 players teeing it up and they're split between two courses.
And that means, odds-wise, we have separate 40-man markets for Pebble Beach Golf Links and Spyglass Hill with each-way terms of (1/5, 5 Places) at both.
While social media was full of players hitting funky shots in wild winds on Tuesday, the forecast for Thursday's round one is very different.
Winds are minimal for most of the golfing day and only start to rise (to about 10-12mph) near the end of that timeframe.
The first two-balls hit away on both courses (from both 1st and 10th tees) at 8:45am local and the final pairings at 10:03am so there's no bias.
Prices on each 40-man market (one for Pebble, one for Spyglass) reflect field size but I'm still happy to play Akshay Bhatia at 30/131.00.
The left-hander bounced back to form with a third place in Phoenix last week and he excelled in the two things required for success at Pebble - dialled in irons and a hot putter.
Bhatia ranked 6th for both SG: Approach and SG: Putting so looks primed for a good week in his native California.
Course form of 30-22 is pretty decent but the nugget is that on debut he opened with a 64 at Pebble (hitting all 18 greens) to sit second after round one.
Bhatia tees off at Pebble (1st hole) at 10:03 local.

Tom Hoge absolutely loves this event.
Not just for the pretty views but because Pebble Beach is the site of his only PGA Tour win.
That came in 2022 but he was also 12th the year before, sixth in 2024 and 17th last year.
He fuelled that win with an opening 63 at Pebble to secure the first-round lead and he should find very similar "perfect weather conditions" this time.
Hoge was FRL in both Hawaii events (Sentry and Sony) in 2025 while this season he started out with a 64 in The American Express where he finished eighth.
Back him at 33s from his 10:42 tee-time (1st) at Pebble.

I'll also have one bet at Spyglass Hill and, with scoring set to be low, let's get an absolute birdie machine on board.
Harry Hall ranked 1st for Birdie or Better Conversion Percentage last year as well as Putts Per round in Round 1.
Also 3rd for Birdie Average and Par Breakers, Hall twice had a piece of the first-round lead in 2025.
This year he's already fired two 65s and two 66s in his three starts.
The Englishman, who grew up playing golf by the coast, has made both cuts in this event and opened with a 65 on debut in 2023, even though that was at Monterey Peninusla, a course no longer used in this event.
But the 65 did come in calm conditions to suggest he could perform a similar act on day one at Spyglass.
Hall tees off at 10:29 from the 1st at Sypglass.
