Tim Bresnan

Tim Bresnan is an English cricketer who currently plays for England and Yorkshire. He is a fast-medium bowler, but also a very capable lower-order batsman with three first-class centuries to his name. Since breaking into the Yorkshire first team in 2003, Bresnan has gained a reputation as a consistently reliable bowler and a big-hitting batsman, making over 75 ODI appearances and playing in two Ashes winning squads.

Bresnan made his debut for Yorkshire in 2003, wasting little time in establishing himself as an important part of the county's first team, going on to take over 360 first class wickets. As well as impressing with the ball, Bresnan has also been a regular run-scorer for the White Rose, scoring his maiden first-class century in April 2007 during a County Championship match against Surrey at The Oval, beating his previous highest score of 94. With over 3,700 runs to his name, Bresnan has carved out a role as something of an all-rounder with his county.

After representing England at Under-19 and Lions level, Bresnan earned his first international call-up in June 2006 when he was named in the England ODI and T20 squad to play Sri Lanka. After making his England ODI debut in 2006, Bresnan has gone on to establish himself in one-day international cricket, making over 75 ODI appearances and playing a part in England winning the 2010 World Twenty20. Bresnan's best match figures came in the 2011 tied World Cup group clash against India, finishing with 5/48. A top score of 80 with the bat came against Australia in the 2009 Champions Trophy.

Bresnan's first Test call-up came in the summer of 2009 when the Yorkshire star was named in the England squad for the series against West Indies, replacing the injured Andrew Flintoff, making his debut at Lords in the first Test. England won the first 13 Test matches Bresnan played in from 2009 to 2012, although the bowler failed to establish himself as a key part of the England pace attack.

After taking 11 wickets in three matches against Bangladesh in 2010, Bresnan was selected for the 2010-2011 Ashes series. After being forced to watch the first three Tests, he was named in the team for the Boxing Day Test at the MCG. He took six wickets, including the final series-sealing wicket which saw England retain the Ashes.

Bresnan was an important part of the England side that won their third successive Ashes series in the summer of 2013, taking 10 wickets in three appearances after returning to the team following injury.
