The wicket-keeper plays domestic cricket for Sussex and has represented England at all three formats of the game.

On his debut for the Test side in 2007, he hit a score of 126 to become the first English wicketkeeper to make a century in their opening game.

He is also the second fastest keeper for England to score over 1000 runs. Les Ames is the only man in history to do it faster than Prior.

After making his debut for Sussex in 2001, he quickly became a regular for the county in first-class cricket. In 2003 he was part of their County Championship winning side. The following year he was their top run-scorer that season with 1,158 runs.

Prior's second County Championship arrived with Sussex in 2006, whilst in 2007 they defended that crown. However, the South African born cricketer did not feature much due to his international commitments.

The right-handed batsman first played for England in 2004 in their ODI series against Zimbabwe.

His first taste of T20 cricket for the Three Lions came in the 2008 Stanford Super Series. England were beaten by the Stanford Superstars in the final of the controversial competition.

Prior had to wait until 2007 for his Test debut when he replaced Paul Nixon for the summer series at home to West Indies. His 126 not out score in his opening innings included 16 boundaries.

After a period out of the team, the Sussex man did make the squad for the Ashes in 2009 when England won the series 2-1. He was played at number six in their batting order and scored 262 runs during the five Tests. That was only bettered by their captain Andrew Strauss.

During the 2010-11 series Down Under in Australia, Prior and England retained the Ashes.  In the Fourth Test at the MCG, he held six catches as the hosts were bowled out for 98. Then with the bat, the Three Lions keeper hit 85 runs. With the urn retained, the number six batsman scored his first century against Australia in the Fifth Test. The ton came from just 109 balls, the fastest England Ashes three figure score since Ian Botham's knock in 1981.

Prior moved into third place in the England Test dismissals during the Ashes series win in 2013 on home soil.
