The Grand Series of Poker has come to an end and I am please to report that each of you who make up Team Betfair have done us all proud and annihilated the competition.

Over the past couple of week a total of 186 individuals have cashed a total of 239 times between them, which in itself is impressive but what is even more so is the fact that Team Betfair players made it to 20 final tables and even went as far as winning four tournaments outright! Out of the $1,915,090 awarded during the series, a staggering $241,380 (or 12.6% to you maths geeks) was won by players on Betfair Poker, an amazing achievement.

With that in mind I thought it would be a good idea to do an awards ceremoney of sorts, based on the information given to me by the good people who work feverishly behind the scenes, keeping everything ticking over smoothly. Some of these awards, which unfortunately have any actual prizes attached to them, are based on earnings, and some are tongue in cheek but hopefully taken in good spirit!

Largest individual cash: DogSaysMEOW who won $26,060.44 when he took down the $108 No Limit Hold'em rebuy event at the start of the GSOP. His win was worth $5,574.56 more than MatizBalla's victory but the latter still deserves a mention here

Most successful country: Players from 27 different countries cashed in this year's GSOP ranging from Switzerland with $230 all the way up to the winner of this category, the United Kingdom with a staggering $78,323 worth of cahses. Finland were the runners up with $35,711 with Greece in third with $19,427 (doesn't everyone say the Greek are fish?!)

The Serial Casher Award: This award is actually going to have to be shared by two players, both of whom cashed five times each during the series. LegatoBF is a name that is synonymous in making the money in Betfair Poker tournaments as is _ dp_ who should really win this award as his five cashes were worth the most. Regardless, cashing five times in one series is a great achievement.

Performance of the series: Its difficult to highlight one particular performance as there were so many great ones but I think I will give this one to CacO BG for his outright victory in the $200 pot limit Omaha event. The condensed field size combined with the high buy-in meant it was one of the toughest fields assembled but the cream always rises to the top, or so they say.

The most unfortunate alias award: Hands down this has to go to Ishatbricks, winner of the $25,000 guaranteed Omaha Hi-Lo event. He was actually run very close by W4NK3RS, who I assume had problems choosing a new name when the switch to Betfair Poker 2 was made.

The least appropriate alias: Whilst the two above this award are highly inappropriate, the player by the name I EAT FISHES must mean things like tuna and haddock as he only managed to cash for $231.92, still more than I did but I do not proclaim to eat fishes!

I suppose I should leave it there for now and say a big thank you to everyone who took part in this year's GSOP and helped to make it a massive success. Congratulations to all those who made it to the money and commiserations to all those who did not.

You too could become a Betfair Hero if you sign up for a completely free account here. Doing so will mean you can chose your own sign up bonus of $50 to $2,500 and you could also see your alias grace these very pages!
