The Lord's Dogs to Watch: Cahill's string warming up nicely for Trainers' Championship

"In no particular order, keep tabs with Baran Colorado (will win Regency as better conditions will help him last out the trip better); Karma Kieren (good sprint effort behind Jimmy Lollie); Blue Bee (stayed on well after trouble, six bends?); Talking Point and Uncle Ollie (both found trouble); Droopys Kayla (six bends?); Little Flame (great pace on first Hove visit); Windy Millar (classy sort will improve for run) and Toems Champ (all-round speed after not getting preferred lead early)."

Top trainer's dogs catch the eye at Hove ahead of Betfair-sponsored, Sky-televised, Doncaster-special!

Sheffield's open-race action is building nicely to Sunday's Queen Mother Cup card, and Tuesday's fare produced some top quality action.

Indeed, there were probably some clues also for the Betfair Trainers' Championship, with Charlie Lister unveiling the likes of Tyrur Biggs and Droopys Beletti. Both won well.
But the star of the show was Droopys Flo, in the race won by Yorkshire Star.
Jimmy Wright's bitch took a clump at the turn but was still closing on the winner up the run-in and they went clear of the pack. Catch her next time, and the next time...

Was Not Me also caught the eye when not quite managing to hold an advantage from traps and could surprise soon, while Frisby Fontenblu did it well from the front in a good race, while Vatican Seamus showed signs of a form revival when third to impressive Senga, although doesn't quite get the bold type again, just yet!

As for the Queen Mother Cup final itself, who can really beat Crown Rover in Sunday's final. Comfortably the fastest and the quickest of the heat winners, Jimmy Wright's dog has the benefit of the red box for the decider. Game on.

As for eyecatchers, Brandon Bigboy showed electric pace but doesn't stay 660m, while Coolavanny Puis could be interesting over even more of a test judged on his staying-on third to Crown Rover.

Hove's Sunday card featured a host of eyecatchers on a day when a number of Seamus Cahill's runners continued their countdown to the Betfair Trainers' Championship.

Cahill sent out leading sprinter Jimmy Lollie to win, among others, and for good measure the dog followed up over two bends on Tuesday at Doncaster, where he will represent Cahill live on Sky on March 23.

Pat Rosney's team took part in last year's Trainers' Championship meeting and he will have high hopes of making the top six in 2011 judged on his current team of stars - Ballymac Well was a most impressive Rosney winner on the day.

But get ready for those worthy of the bold type (!).

In no particular order, keep tabs with Baran Colorado (will win Regency as better conditions will help him last out the trip better); Karma Kieren (good sprint effort behind Jimmy Lollie); Blue Bee (stayed on well after trouble, six bends?); Talking Point and Uncle Ollie (both found trouble); Droopys Kayla (six bends?); Little Flame (great pace on first Hove visit); Windy Millar (classy sort will improve for run) and Toems Champ (all-round speed after not getting preferred lead early).

Elsewhere, Romford and Nottingham started the week as they usually do with opens aplenty and Jim Daly's Droopys Jaquetta caught the eye in the heats of a maiden stayers.
Admittedly, the Yarmouth bitch was the slowest of the three winners, but to the eye she looked great and the 'pinging' trap three in Friday's final might help her start even better.
As for Nottingham, not too much to go on, although The Lord favourite Rock It Jazz struck for us. And watch out for Officer Donagh, the crack sprinter of Chris Allsopp's, who showed pace behind Rotar Wing and is on the way back to his best.
