"Having beaten Romeo Maldini comfortably in last week’s heats, there’s no logical reason why Droopys Simon cannot confirm the form this evening at 21.22.
Pat Rosney’s runner, off the track for six weeks prior to the heats, showed a nice turn of early speed. and with Driving Up Ben likely to hold up Romeo Maldini, the selection should get frst run"
Nottingham and Romford's regular Monday night Opens provide the day's best BAGS action, with Darrell Williams of the believe heat form will be upheld in the day's feature race, the 480 Trophy final at Nottingham.
Sometimes you can make things far more difficult than they need to be in betting. Having beaten Romeo Maldini comfortably in last week's heats, there's no logical reason why Droopys Simon cannot confirm the form this evening at 21.22.
But many will, I accept, come to the opposite conclusion, given that Dave Firmager's beaten dog has just returned from a short layoff, and having been third in last November's Eclipse final is undoubtedly the classier of the two runners.
Of course, it may turn out that way, but one thing's for certain, by backing Droopys Simon you will be supporting a dog at a bigger price than he should be, and surely that's half the battle.
Pat Rosney's runner, himself off the track for six weeks prior to the heats, showed a nice turn of early speed. and with Driving Up Ben likely to hold up Romeo Maldini, the selection should get frst run. Take [5.0] or bigger.
Romford's three heats of the Standard have attracted a decent class of dog, but I'm content on just backing the one runner, Craighall Horse in the first heat at 19.27.
Jim Reynolds' charge has hit a purple patch in recent weeks, crushing his field by 5 lengths a fortnight ago, before confirming he's not only about early speed by winning from off the pace next time - both races coming over tonight's CD.
With Stemart Knut likely to cut inside, that should allow our choice plenty of racing room, and I'd advise a small wager at [3.0] or higher.
