"I would be betting long odds on that Oklahoma Sunset will be leading down the back straight - and there must be a good chance he’ll still be there as the paypeg looms into view. Take anything over [3.5]."
Ed Nicholson goes to Sunderland and Hove for today's best BAGS bets....
The highest graded race on Sunderland's evening BAGS card does not occur until 9.17pm - but it may be worth waiting for as the trap three runner, Oklahoma Sunset, looks like he has outstanding claims of going one better than last time when the April 2006 whelp led everywhere bar the line in this same A2 grade.
Oklahoma Sunset has been running out of his skin lately having secured victory in A3 company just eight days ago, and is arguably in the form of his life. He should have the speed to lead his rivals up (he's actually broken the magical 5.00 seconds sectional barrier) and although he may need a little trouble in behind, I can see him being a length or more ahead off the final turn.
He is drawn in trap three, but as a middle seed he may actually push the other seeds away from the fence. That would give the inside runners a chance to come through, but neither the trap one or two dogs are blessed with early sizzle.
I would be betting long odds on that Oklahoma Sunset will be leading down the back straight - and there must be a good chance he'll still be there as the paypeg looms into view. Take anything over [3.5].
Over at Hove I think I've found one in the A4 contest at 4.47pm. Blakes Best, drawn on the wide outside in trap six has a race to suit his style of racing, and this strong finishing sort can come with his usual wet sail late up the home straight to take this event.
The June 2006 whelp can follow the trap five runner around the first two bends, and provided he doesn't get a bump should be handily placed by the final two turns. He wont be a big price, especially if the Sussex coast faithful get stuck in - but I feel he is worth backing at anything over [2.8].
