BELLE VUE 20.10

SLIPPY SOAK (T1) might be the wrong side of the hill but she is still running with fire in her belly. With leading credentials on the inside lane she has an opportunity of opening up a useful advantage. When you take her battling qualities into account she has to be considered a serious candidate for the winning prize money.

POSH BILLIE (T2) is finding A5 category a hard nut to crack. She tends to miss out at the trap release and relies heavily on her recovery speed. If, at any point, she manages to get her nose in front, it will take a huge effort from one of the opposition to deny her.

CLONTUBRID LASS (T3) didn't enjoy the smoothest of runs last Friday and the form is valueless. She will be jockeying for a prominent early position to use as a foundation for her backstretch burst of speed and time-wise you can more or less set your stopwatch by her.

CONFIDENT DELIA (T4) is always capable of throwing a spanner into the works. She warms to the task from the second last corner although be warned - she does have a tendency to lose concentration at the vital moment!

SMOOTH AUSSIE (T5) doesn't have a particularly good strike rate but can be a dangerous force when she times her getaway to perfection. The last time she managed to break free from the pack resulted in a 9¼ lengths victory.

GALIPIP SHOWDOWN (T6) takes a welcome breather from A4 duties and he is booked for a solo jaunt on the wing - tempting combination! He packs solid speed for the full duration of the contest and would appear to be the one they all have to beat.

'LES' CAN QUICKLY STAMP HIS AUTHORITY ON THE RACE

BELLE VUE 20.25

NEWBAWN RANGER (T1) is in fine fettle at the moment and another big run can be expected clad in his favoured scarlet jacket. He should have the requisite speed to out-manoeuvre 'Sal' to the opening corner and 'Ranger' certainly possesses a big lung capacity.

SJAMBOK SAL (T2) isn't exactly in the predictable bracket but when everything goes according to schedule she is capable of scoring at generous odds. She often dawdles at the start but has a fine change of pace along the far side.

KERSAL LES (T3) deserves to break his maiden tag after picking up a share of the minor purse in all three outings to date. He has stacks of sprinting speed at his disposal but the petrol gauge wavers on 'empty' in the closing 100 metres. He is strongly fancied though to keep enough in reserve to repel any late challengers.

BUA KRISTIN (T4) isn't exactly setting the track alight at the moment. Apart from her runner-up award in her penultimate race there isn't a great deal to report. She is suffering from that dreaded double - tardy starts and trouble on the bends.

KYLEGROVE RORY (T5) clocked a personal best of 28.80 last week but he had to settle for bronze ware. 'Rory' has yet to master the art of trapping but he makes up for that deficiency with powerful finishes. The big question is, will those gaps yawn at the appropriate moments?

HIGHFIELD PEARL (T6) has the outside passage all to herself therefore she is looking good for racing room. She generally employs a stalking style of attack and will make her presence felt approaching the halfway stage. Her last victory was accomplished under similar circumstances - A6 class from trap 6!

'SPARK' SET FOR ALL-THE-WAY GLORY

BELLE VUE 20.55

DARK JUSTICE (T1) is a vastly-experienced campaigner but he is still pulling out all the stops. He has already bagged A6 and A5 triumphs this month and it wouldn't be a surprise if he added an A4 to the tally. Rather partial to a fence location, he will be looming large as the event draws to a conclusion.

PENDLE TIGRESS (T2) endured a bumpy ride on her comeback from lameness but no doubt she will strip fitter for the run. She occasionally escapes on terms but is much better known for her chase-on antics.

BORNA STAR (T3) appeared a little ring-rusty last Saturday (first venture since 25th November). She has a wide range of skills and merits maximum respect at this level of combat but from this midfield slot she seems to have a tricky draw to overcome.

MILLTOWN FLYER (T4) has failed to limbo the 29-second barrier on the last four occasions which has to be regarded as disappointing when you take his ability into account. He runs on with a vengeance but traffic jams are constantly thwarting his chances.

AUTUMN GOVERNER (T5) is another character who takes some while to gather full momentum so he has to work cleverly during the opening exchanges. His takeover technique will have to be spot-on if he is to play a major part in the outcome.

NEVEDA SPARK (T6) surely has the class card to take care of what seems to be a moderate A4 assembly. He is the only participant who has genuine early pace at his disposal and looks a banker to cut out the early running. He can have the situation under total control by the three-quarter juncture.
