The Hawk has been studying the BAGS action again and has two more recommendations for you.
Of the six dogs in the Hawk's virtual kennel - only one ran last week and that dog Winning Bond was a winner at an SP of 7/4. This column suggested he had to drop to A4 company to win, as we said he would do in column seven:
" ...his A4 record is excellent having won four from six. He has also won five from 11 in trap 5. All his wins came when running on late, and it maybe that the A3 dogs just get too far in front of him. Now in A3 (but should be backed in A4 only)."
Reckless Revival, A4, Sheffield
This November 2004 whelp isn't exactly a spring chicken but he showed in his 127th career run last week that he is more than capable of winning soon.
He has only run four races at this grade in his long and illustrious career - and he's won two. For the best part of his races at the Owlerton Stadium he has been in A3 or A2 company and he's won 23 times. He is a winner just waiting to happen in this grade as he shows good early pace but stays on well. He is a difficult dog to pass as he comes into the rails and then moves out wide down the straights. If he was to lead up in his next race I doubt anything would catch him.
Coolanoran Black, A4, Hall Green
Coolanoran Black last won in A3 grade back on January 31 yet he now races in A4 and he must win in his next three races. As a slow starting railer he does require luck in-running, but if drawn to run a clear he should have too much for this grade. Last week he failed by just 0.75 lengths to pick up the leader. Coolanoran Black is obviously a difficult dog to grade - back on January 9 he won an A5 yet just three weeks later on the 31st January he won an A3 in only 0.10 seconds quicker. All he needs is a clear run and a dog to chase (an early paced Trap Two). It's just a matter of when, not if, this dog wins.
