We head to Sheffield's early meeting for our first selection, with DROOPYS GROOVY (Trap 5, 12.43) fancied to build on her trial run over 500-metres recently and come out on top. Consistent in sprints of late, Barrie Draper's charge has loads of early boot and lines up in an A4 lacking depth on balance, so we're hopeful she can steal an early march and make every post a winning one.

Nice As Ice (Trap 5) - 20:52 Perry Barr

Aayamza Dream is likely to be all the rage in the betting in heat five of the Arena Racing Company St Leger at 20.52 but she hasn't been setting the world alight in trials upon joining Mark Wallis and with that in mind, we're happy to take a value punt on NICE AS ICE (Trap 5). Jimmy Fenwick's charge arrives in great order, bolting up in a 640-metre open at Newcastle 8 days ago. Her sprint trial here subsequently was a solid display and granted racing room out wide, she's fancied to surprise a few here.

Moanteen Mikey (Trap 6) - 21:11 Perry Barr

Heat six of the M Lambe Construction Birmingham Cup features as the penultimate race on Perry Barr's classy card at 21.11 and we think Newcastle raider MOANTEEN MIKEY (Trap 6) is worth siding with to come out on top. An October 19' whelp, he's proved himself well above average on his travels to date, again displaying his fine early pace when successful at Nottingham on his most recent competitive start. A 28.55 C&D trial was a perfectly adequate first look around here and he could well prove tough to peg back if getting loose out wide.
