Timeform UK SmartPlays: Wednesday May 23

Today's first selection comes from Lingfield Park

Reggie Perrin returns to the Flat potentially well treated off this mark and the application of a visor for the first time may bring out further improvement

Two more winners yesterday for the Timeform Smartplays team means a profitable start to the week. Let's hope it continues today...

Firstly on the flat at Lingfield, Reggie Perrin looks to have a lively chance in the 15:30. He reached a Timeform rating of 107 in a brief spell over hurdles during the winter and had shaped promisingly on his final two starts on all-weather beforehand. Reggie Perrin returns to the Flat potentially well treated off a BHA mark of 54, and the application of a visor for the first time may bring out further improvement.

Darceys Dancer is of interest in the handicap chase (18:50) at Worcester this evening. He is now 18 lb lower than when finishing third at Ascot in October and appeared to have something left in the tank when finishing fourth at Newbury at the end of March, suggesting tonight's step back up in trip will not be an issue. He is too well treated to ignore now.

Things have been tough for Knighton Combe over fences, but he may find life a little easier dropping back into novice hurdle company at Worcester(20:20). He returned to form when winning a veterans' handicap chase at Ascot last month and can be forgiven his latest effort at Sandown (soft ground). Any reproduction of his best chase form will make Knighton Combe tough to beat.
