Edmund showed just modest form over hurdles but he has already reached a higher level over fences and holds outstanding claims in the 13:20 at Carlisle. Very much a chasing type, Edmund registered a first career success when winning a handicap chase over an extended two miles at Newcastle, jumping soundly and keeping on well in the closing stages. Edmund was well backed to follow up over the same C&D but departed four from home when still in with every chance. It was too far out to definitively state how he would have fared, but he was certainly travelling well enough and can gain compensation here.
The winning pointer Buywise didn't land a blow on either start over hurdles (wasn't knocked about) but he has looked potentially useful back over fences and he can complete the hat-trick in the 14:40 at Ludlow. Buywise won over C&D with plenty in hand and he showed further improvement to win at Taunton just two days later, again scoring with remarkable ease. He is a progressive sort who clearly started life in handicaps on a lenient mark and still looks well treated despite racing off an 11 lb higher mark today.
Daring Dragon had little chance at the weights in a minor event last time, but he still ran well, producing a career-best performance, and can take advantage of the return to calmer waters in the six-furlong handicap at Kempton (20:00). Daring Dragon looks well treated based on the form he showed last time and, though the solidity of the form is obviously open to some doubt, we will take a chance on Ed Walker's gelding who looks good value at morning prices.
