We haven't seen Admiralty (16.20 Southwell) since winning at Wolverhampton in October, yet that is no reason to be deeply concerned. Always travelling well on that occasion, Admiralty put the race to bed in good style, leaving the impression that there could be more to come. Furthermore, the fibresand surface should hold no fears for this improving son of Iffraaj, as his second over a mile in the autumn here confirms, and the drop back in trip is also unlikely to cause any problems. He gets the vote in an intriguing affair with promising apprentice Thomas Brown once again booked.
We head to Kempton this evening for our next two selections, beginning with Picansort (18:00). The application of headgear has sparked a revival for Picansort recently, scoring twice over the minimum trip at Lingfield, and, though a slow start compromised his chance last time, he should be on the premises with an even break.
Class 6 handicaps at Kempton are not usually the easiest of races to tackle, yet Reasons Unknown looks to have an outstanding chance of taking top honours in the 19:30. He made a winning debut for the Tom McLaughlin stable when scoring at Wolverhampton over 9.5 furlongs in December, and has subsequently put up two solid efforts in defeat over longer trips. A strong-travelling type, the drop in trip shouldn't be a hindrance, so we'll take a chance that the in-form five-year-old can get the better of C&D specialist Ermyntrude.
