We're putting in a late shift, with our first selection running in Fakenham's closer (17:00). It's a six-runner handicap for mares, in summer, so is never going to be the most competitive; that's part of the case for the unexposed Dream Mistress. She is only just coming out, showing little at first but doing a lot better on her last two starts, shaping better than most when seemingly failing to stay over three miles at Market Rasen last time. That was Dream Mistress' handicap debut and she's been dropped 2 lb for it, which is fairly generous when you read between the lines. Now over two and a half miles at Fakenham she won't have any problems seeing the trip out and makes more appeal than plenty of her rivals in this contest.
The final race at Brighton (17:25) is also on our radar. In it we foresee a good opportunity for Vincentti to land a first success since September 2012. He's been inching closer of late and doing little wrong in defeat, finding only the promising Desert Command too strong at Bath last week. Turned out quickly to take advantage of the same mark, Vincentti's claims from a handicapping perspective are very strong (well clear on Timeform weight-adjusted ratings), while his suitability to the track is an unknown rather than a doubt with him having plenty of form over courses of a similar nature.
We head west for our final bet in Exeter's competitive handicap hurdle at 19:20. The layers appear to have balked at Taradrewe's rapid ascendency in the weights (now 20 lb higher than just two starts ago), though the style of his recent wins totally justifies it. What's more, that she could win so easily over two and a half miles at Fontwell on her latest start advertises her credentials even more strongly than the margins convey; Taradrewe is a stayer and, all being well, will improve for this return to (all but) three miles. That the excellent Aidan Coleman rides Shallowside for Emma Lavelle instead is the only black mark against Taradrewe, who will prove better than a BHA mark of 115 and has little reason not to show as much today.
