Wish Again is top on Timeform ratings and could be difficult to peg back once in the lead in Beverley's 14:30, a contest which represents a drop in grade for the David Nicholls-trained gelding. Wish Again is a speedy sort who will always be best suited to a five furlong dash, and connections will be hoping today's first-time visor will ensure he runs up to his very best. He has the perfect draw in stall three to bounce out and make the running and, if allowed to dictate, Wish Again could be too good for the majority of these.
Mawjoodah is well treated if bouncing back to her best and, at the current prices, represents a decent back selection in the 18:50 at Kempton this evening. Mawjoodah is Timeform top-rated for what admittedly looks a competitive handicap, but Brian Ellison's filly should have what it takes to go close off her current BHA handicap mark. She ran below her best last time after a promising seasonal reappearance, but Mawjoodah experienced little luck in running, badly hampered with a furlong to go and was never able to recover. Ellison's yard, fresh from Global Village's success in the Victoria Cup on Saturday, has been in decent form recently, and the four-year-old is another who can add to his list of recent success.
Johnno was unlucky not to make a winning handicap debut when second last time, and he definitely has the ability to make amends this evening in the 20:50 at Kempton. Johnno is open to progression having had just the five starts so far and, with his two best performances having come on the polytrack surface, the three-year-old colt is expected to make further improvement once again. Johnno did very well on his latest outing given the circumstances, racing well off the pace from the worst draw of all before responding well to pressure, narrowly beaten by a neck having made up vast amounts of ground on the eventual winner. The step up in trip should suit and Johnno represents Bet of the Day material.
