Our first bet on Tuesday runs in the extended one-mile fillies' handicap at 14:45 as we side with the progressive Fruit Pastille. Hughie Morrison's three-year-old is getting better with racing and posted her best effort yet when runner-up at Southwell in February, staying on powerfully close home over seven furlongs having been given too much to do. That was not the first time that Fruit Pastille has been noted staying on with purpose towards the end of her races and she ought to relish the extra distance on offer this afternoon. Fruit Pastille remains with potential from this lowly mark of 68 and is likely to give a good account.
Wannabe Your Man, representing the in-form yard of Roger Varian, catches the eye in the 14-furlong handicap at 16:15, boasting a completely unexposed profile that is in stark contrast to many of his rivals, and he can make a successful handicap bow. A half-brother to the useful Wannabe Loved, Wannabe Your Man is bred to be significantly better than the mark of 70 he is allowed to race off this afternoon, and he has shaped with promise on a couple of his starts, notably at Kempton last month. That effort came over 11 furlongs and it is likely that Wannabe Your Man will find 14 furlongs in his favour and, if that's the case, he could take some beating.
Cheworee made a winning reappearance last season from a 1 lb higher mark and, despite having a rather patchy profile, she is worth chancing in the five-furlong fillies' handicap at 16:50. Cheworee lost her way last season after making such an encouraging return at Windsor, but she got back on track when finishing third on her first start for Tom Dascombe at Pontefract, running right up to her best. Cheworee failed to build on that performance on two subsequent starts, but she returns this season from a very fair mark and may well have benefited from the break.
