George Baker, who recently highlighted his abundant ability when successful aboard Bated Breath in the Temple Stakes, is a rider who clearly strikes an affinity with plenty of his mounts and he's back aboard one of them, Midas Moment (14:40), in the fillies' mile handicap at Wolverhampton. Not only has the mare won twice from three starts at the track, she is also two from four under Baker, and it's anticipated that the presence of the jockey will enable her to settle better than has been the case of late. It's difficult to say Midas Moment is well handicapped (3 lb higher than for last victory) but she's still relatively lightly raced and should get the race run to suit with Out of Nothing likely to take them along.
David Lanigan is enjoying a great year so far in his first full season at Bjorn Nielsen's Kingsdown Stables in Lambourn and the trainer will be confident of another winner with recent polytrack scorer Tis Rock 'n' Roll (15:10) in the handicap at Wolverhampton over an extended nine furlongs. Just as the market suggested he would, Tis Rock 'n' Roll stepped up on his well-held juvenile efforts with a ready victory on his handicap debut at Lingfield 12 days ago, impressing with the way he settled and travelled before quickening clear over two furlongs out. A 9 lb rise to a BHA rating of 69 is highly unlikely to stop Tis Rock 'n' Roll as he appears the type to run up a sequence.
Despite being the most frequently used jockey by James Bethell in the last five seasons, Graham Gibbons still shows a level-stakes profit when riding for the yard and can add to that today courtesy of Damascus Symphony (16:30) in the staying handicap at Hamilton. Damascus Symphony thrived last autumn, winning a pair of heavy-ground handicaps at up to a mile and a half (including at today's track), and shaped as if working her way back up to fitness both starts this year. Good to firm ground is an unknown having only on it once when seemingly in need of experience as a juvenile, but Damascus Symphony stays well and is the value bet in a winnable race.
