International Love (14:50 Newbury) shaped well on debut when a keeping-on third to Mango Diva at Kempton last month. The Andrew Balding-trained filly looks sure to progress for the step up to 10 furlongs and is taken to break her maiden, chiefly at the expense of John Gosden's Cushion who has had plenty of chances and Astonishing, trained by Sir Michael Stoute who also showed promise on her racecourse bow over an inadequate trip.
Tajheez (18:50 Haydock) went off a well-backed favourite when opening his account by a length and a quarter (value for more) on his seasonal reappearance in an 11-furlong handicap at Kempton in May. After showing only fair form in maidens at two, he raced off a mark of just 62 on handicap debut and the Roger Varian-trained gelding was always likely to prove better than that at three, being as he is from one of the top Shadwell families. It would be a major surprise if his new mark of 69 was to prove beyond him this season and he should be able to take the return to turf and the step back in trip in his stride.
Henry The Aviator (20:20 Haydock) won on debut at Wolverhampton at the end of January in the manner of a horse with much more to give. He has since run into two useful rivals in King George River (who beat him a head and has since gone on to chase home French Derby winner Intello in a Newmarket listed race) and Wood Ditton winner Ajraam. Henry The Aviator was coming off a four-month break on the more recent of those starts and shaped promisingly, not really looking the finished article. He is likely to improve on that now, handle the ground and relish the step back up in trip to a mile, while he also holds a number of entries in the next few days, suggesting perhaps that connections anticipate him running under a penalty.
